The new design is not 100% finished yet, so if you find any broken links, images, download/upload problems, or anything that just looks odd, PLEASE send me an email, and let me know. Happy Holidays to all the loyal NFSAddons visitors. It's been a great year, and I just wanted to thank everyone for visiting and hope 2009 is just as good.

Today also marks one week left to vote for the NFSAddons Addon Awards 08. Get your votes in!!

EA also wanted to give a little gift to everyone:
To help you celebrate the holidays we're going to reveal the secret NeedForSpeed.com on the cheat car. If you use this code Nfsdotcom73 in the cheat menu you'll find yourself the proud owner of a brand new and very well tuned Lotus Elise. This car isn't valid during the story mode but you'll be able to give it a go during Quick Race.

After reading another article from Joystiq, there seems to be some indication that NFS may not be killed off, but rather change hands, into the grip of Criterion Games.

"We've received a tip from someone a purported EA employ who wishes to remain anonymous. According to this source, the Need for Speed series isn't shutting down -- but EA Black Box, the development team behind recent entries into the series, "most likely" is. The source explains that EA not only scrapped their plans to open up a new studio in Vancouver, but that they also decided to close Black Box, moving the NFS and Skate teams to their much larger Burnaby studios.

The source further details the fate of Need for Speed -- he claims that one of the next entries into the series will be developed by the EA-owned Criterion Games, and will likely use the engine of their racing series, Burnout. He also claims that there are three different teams within Black Box that are responsible for developing Need for Speed titles (which is how they're able to release a new NFS title every year) -- though these three teams will likely consolidate into one, leading to less NFS releases, more continuity between said releases, and, ultimately, drastic downsizing for the NFS teams."

1UP is reporting that the Need For Speed series may be in jeopardy....

Not more than a month after the release of Need For Speed: Undercover, the Electric Playground is reporting that Electronic Arts may be cutting the franchise entirely. The videogame web show claims that future titles in the series have been canceled.

EA director of communications Colin Macrae provided Electric Playground with the following comment:
"We're working through a process on people, products, and facilities at EA and don't have any announcements today."

Undercover, the most recent entry in the long-running franchise, was received fairly well but didn't crack the top 20 in the NPD sales charts for the month of November. Earlier in the year, EA CEO John Riccitiello had spoken of plans to split the Need for Speed development team into two groups, allowing for a 24-month cycle for creating each game rather than the 12 months cycle that he said "torture[d] a very talented group of people."

If this report is true, I'm disappointed that we'll never get the chance to see what could have come from giving this series a much-needed boost in development time to try out new ideas. And unless the publisher already has new plans for the creators of Need For Speed, we could be seeing further layoffs from EA soon, as has been previously predicted. We'll keep checking for official confirmation and word from EA on what's happening to the Need for Speed franchise and why.

I'll keep everyone posted if I find out anything more directly from EA.

EA just sent this over:

"We wanted to let everyone know that the game team is currently hard at work developing a patch for Undercover for PS3, 360 and PC. We've spent a lot of time reviewing all the feedback from the community. Thank you! At this point we don't have a confirmed release date or fix list but we thought it was important to let everyone know that a patch is in progress. As soon as we've got more news we'll let everyone know."

Arushan has once again been the breaker of great news. This time, he has released an Undercover save game editor, which not only allows you to copy cars to your garage, but it will also remove strikes from your cars you already have, Now even if your three hundred and fourty thousand dollar car is impounded, you just simply open your editor, set the strikes back to zero, and you're set for more action.

You may download the Undercover Save game editor at NFSNation.com

The program will require you to register an account with NFSNation.com if you wish to upload your cars blueprints for sharing with your friends.

I'm doing a little something new this year... the first ever NFSAddons.com Addon Awards. Full details are on the awards page, but here's the basic rundown:

Every car uploaded to the site between December 1st 2007 and November 30th 2008 is eligible to receive votes. Each user can vote for up to 10 different cars, and on January 1st, the winners will be announced. I'm hoping to give out prizes, but I'm not sure what the prizes will be yet. Likely a copy of NFS:UC and/or some giftcards... unless anyone has something they'd like to donate :)

Check out the full details. If this goes over well, I'll be doing this every year, and maybe once a month. But that would require more people uploading their cars :)

And, you'll also notice that today is November 29th... and the awards are valid for cars uploaded until November 30th. So if you don't see your car list there, feel free to upload it in the next 2 days and it will still be eligible.

Also note, that I am aware some of the cars were created long before 2008 (aka Dodge Boy's), but since I have no way of verifying the exact date they were created, the nominee's are based on the date uploaded to NFSAddons.

Enjoy, and let the community on other sites know!
